Narcissism

Now that I have upgraded to Blogger in Beta, I am having an absurdly good time labelling old posts. Why? I guess I like to read my own writing. It's interesting, looking back at what I was saying and thinking over the last year or so.

The labels section is far from complete. I'll pick away at it whenever I feel like navel-gazing. For now, it gives you an idea of what I remember as my most significant or frequent topics. We'll see whether it changes significantly or not. Or whether I lose interest in it . . .

Funny. When I look back at my old writing I feel vaguely embarrassed. Sometimes I just want to blot it out altogether.

Well, yeah, I get some of that too. Sometimes right after I hit "publish."

I recall a few weeks ago that you were concerned that all the posts would be renewed on rss feeds. At least on Bloglines, this hasn't been the case. Congratulations on discovering a way around it, if so.

Not that it would have mattered to me!

I've considered something similar but it turns out that my blogging software (b3) only allows one tag. Forget it.

(I could upgrade to wordpress, but the thought of 800 posts biting the dust due to an erroneous click still has me quivering. I'm good, but I'm not that good.)

'scuse me - that's "b2", not b3, blogging software. Good, but limited.

Hi Wayne - no, I didn't find a way around it, just went ahead. Actually I had a vague intuitive idea that labels were probably sort of separate from post content, given Blogger's comments that they now serve up posts on demand rather than publishing a new page each time you post (or something like that). Looks like I was right. Lucky me.

I have considered switching to wordpress, and I found some documentation about how to do it, but then I couldn't even get wordpress running, and Garth was too busy and frustrated with computers in general to help me. So I trust to The System to keep my blog out there somewhere. A backup might be a good idea, one of these days...

Laura,

I've caught your labeling bug, how obsessive is that?

madcap & laura-

I'm always self-conscious about my writing and now I can easier find the things that may need editing.

After all, these are our journals, and, public as they may be, I feel I have the right to add to my comments at any time, or correct my grammar & spelling, or clarify a clunky statement, or even delete something if it's really stupid.

And sometimes I can say very stupid things, especially if I'm in a hurry, and a bit "Snarky" that day.
