Yonge Street, Rocks and Trees, Alberta

Yahoo! Canada News: "TORONTO (CP) - It's beginning to look a lot like a green Christmas for most of the country east of Alberta."

Wow. I should have known it was too early to hibernate.

I wake up mid-winter and find I must have missed some sort of referendum.

That's your green Christmas, is it? It would take a pretty powerful chinook to do away with the heap of snow we've got here.

How much have you got? I'm guessing there's maybe a foot or so on the ground here, and that's after some settling, sublimating, and blowing away into Manitoba. I don't think I've ever had so much piled in the back yard, but I used to pile a ridge along the edge of the driveway first. May have to start that again this year, if it keeps up.

It kind of depends where you look. We've had some ferocious winds that blew drifts up to 3' on top of the base level. And other places were blown bare. It was pretty hard to get around for a while. But an overall average would probably be about 2'. We also got a bunch of freezing rain when it warmed up. Fun.
