A quick web search reveals that, as you say, they are poisonous but they're not entirely bad because you can eat them. The eight-year-old in question seems to be doing okay, and since the hypothetical symptoms are diarrhea and vomiting it should be easy to spot problems. "Dad, can I have a drink of your coke?"
"Not until I'm sure you're not going to die. That would be a waste." Her siblings informed me that I'm not a fit parent. I'll let you know if she becomes ill, but right now I'm inclined to doubt it.Augustushttp://www3.telus.net/rocketnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14189071.post-47697995963200690282013-03-30T17:15:01.735-06:002013-03-30T17:15:01.735-06:00This totally sounds like me most of the time!!This totally sounds like me most of the time!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18343990963110434609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14189071.post-23140458030797399192013-03-17T20:44:22.625-06:002013-03-17T20:44:22.625-06:00These days it is getting hard to read posts which ...These days it is getting hard to read posts which are useful !!! but I've found this one absolutely informative and amazing !!! I wonder, though, whether the whole premise of reaching for the best possible performance is fundamentally unbalanced. Sure, I gain some inspiration from seeing the example of people who have worked hard and achieved a dream, but I think an example that is much more desperately needed in this world is the example of a sense of "enough." I think that sense of "enough" is a prerequisite for balance.arcolaurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09448256908335690710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14189071.post-75990574288679665652010-02-28T18:06:49.207-06:002010-02-28T18:06:49.207-06:00This is a subject that I have been pondering on fo...This is a subject that I have been pondering on for a little while now. I appreciate the spirit of your questions but I'm not sure that I agree exactly.

I think the negatives that are being discussed have more to do with the spectacle which the Olympics have become, as opposed to the nature of the games themselves. In that regard, I tend to agree. But as far as competition being inherently bad, I do not agree. Friendly and balanced competition can be a big part of building community. I say part because I am not trying to argue that competition is everything or that winning at all costs is an appropriate mindset. But the Olympic games are not about winning at all costs. They are about providing a platform for fair and friendly international competition among those who partake in the sports and an example for everyone about focusing and putting all of oneself into a goal, being the best you that you can be.

I will be the first to admit that there has come to be FAR too much spectacle involved, far too much celebrity poured onto winners, far too much emphasis put on the "economic growth potential" which means far too much consumption and waste involved...and I do not look to the Olympics for hope. But I think there is too much really negative stuff happening in our world to close our eyes to the good things that come out of something like the Olympics. We just need to be way more balanced about it.Jerryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10354640729644229842noreply@blogger.com
